Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has disclosed that India launched around 11 missiles targeting a Pakistani military base this past May, where both aircraft and personnel were present. Fortunately, the attack caused neither casualties nor damage.
According to Naqvi, the army chief swiftly conveyed a firm warning to India, making it clear that any aggression would trigger a much stronger response. He emphasized that Pakistan has no desire for escalation and harbors no ill intent towards Indian civilians.
Naqvi shared these details during a key meeting with prominent religious scholars to discuss strategies for ensuring security and peace during the holy month of Muharram. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, and other respected religious leaders.
In his address, the Interior Minister urged scholars to help maintain sectarian harmony under the guiding principle: “Hold fast to your faith, but do not provoke anyone else’s.” He called on them to encourage unity and tolerance throughout Muharram.
Expressing concern over the growing threat of terrorism, Naqvi proposed holding similar meetings with scholars in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in regions vulnerable to militant activity. He stressed that the fight against terrorism can only succeed if local communities cease supporting extremist elements.
Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, Naqvi revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif played a vital role in facilitating a ceasefire between Iran and Israel. He also acknowledged the crucial backing of the country’s military leadership in this achievement, noting that Pakistan should take pride in its contribution to regional peace.
