Investigators have made significant headway in the ongoing inquiry into the mysterious death of model and actress Humaira Asghar, after obtaining her complete bank account details.

According to sources close to the investigation, Humaira’s current account at a private bank contained over Rs398,000 at the time of her death, with regular ATM withdrawals ranging between Rs25,000 to Rs50,000. This account activity strongly suggests that she was financially stable and not under monetary distress — contradicting earlier claims that financial hardship may have played a role in her death.

Earlier, officials had speculated that Humaira was struggling financially, citing text messages in which she had repeatedly sought work or job recommendations. However, the latest banking data undermines that theory.

In a new development, investigators confirmed that no cash or jewellery was recovered from her residence, raising suspicions of potential theft. This angle is now being officially explored as part of the broader investigation.

Police are continuing to gather forensic evidence and review CCTV footage from the surrounding area to reconstruct the final hours of the actress’s life. Humaira Asghar, who had been absent from the public eye for some time, was found dead in a decomposed state in her apartment earlier this month, prompting widespread speculation on social media.

Earlier in the investigation, Humaira’s mobile phone was handed over to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for forensic examination. Experts are currently attempting to bypass privacy locks to retrieve more digital evidence. Authorities have already recovered data showing the last 24 hours of her life, revealing that she left her home on September 28 around 1pm, visited Clifton, and returned by 2pm. She was not seen exiting the apartment thereafter.

Another puzzling aspect under investigation is the delayed detection of the body’s odour. In November, residents on the second floor of the building reported a foul smell to the watchman. However, a cursory check by building management at the time failed to confirm any unusual odour, possibly delaying discovery and allowing the scent to fade.

Investigators believe Humaira may have been washing clothes when she suffered a fatal accident. It is suspected that she exited the bathroom, collided with an object, and fell. The absence of food in her kitchen and the non-functional state of a food delivery app on her phone further add to the mystery.

Officials expect further details from her bank records to shed additional light on her recent activities and financial condition, as all investigative angles — including foul play — remain under review.
