Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has emphasized that the actions of a single terrorist must never place innocent civilians at risk.
Speaking during a special interaction with students from Balochistan, the military spokesperson clarified that the Pakistan Army has no interest in harming civilians under the pretext of counter-terrorism operations. He stressed that all military actions are intelligence-based, carried out with precision to ensure the safety of non-combatants.
Lt Gen Chaudhry underlined that the cooperation of local communities is crucial in rooting out terrorism, as indiscriminate clearance operations risk allowing threats to resurface once troops withdraw. “No community should be penalised for the actions of an individual,” he reiterated, while warning that those who shelter terrorists or store explosives will face strict consequences.
Paying tribute to Major Muhammad Anwar Kakar, the DG ISPR described him as a “proud son of the soil” who had previously neutralised several militants during the Gwadar attack. He noted that the sacrifices of officers, soldiers, and civilians remain the backbone of Pakistan’s fight against terrorism.
Acknowledging the patriotism of Balochistan’s youth, Lt Gen Chaudhry highlighted the strong bond between the province and the country. He praised the people of Balochistan for actively resisting terrorism and reporting militant activity in their areas.
The ISPR chief also reflected on Pakistan’s founding principles, stating that the nation was established on the basis of the Kalma, transcending ethnic, linguistic, and regional differences. He cited prominent examples of Baloch citizens, including Cambridge-educated scientist Samad Yar Jang, martial arts champion Shahzaib Rind, and women serving as deputy commissioners, as proof that the province’s educated youth are shaping their own futures.
Lt Gen Chaudhry further pointed out that Balochistan is a multi-ethnic province, with Pashtuns making up more than 30% of its population, while a larger number of Baloch live outside the province than within it.
Concluding his address, the DG ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s true strength lies in unity under the essence of “Lā ilāha illallāh”, which binds its citizens beyond ethnic or regional identities.
