ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday presided over a top-level meeting to assess the situation in flood-ravaged areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, announcing that the federal cabinet will contribute one month’s salary to help families hit by recent rains and floods.
The prime minister said the government’s focus must remain on relief and recovery, not politics, during this difficult time. He assured that families of those who lost their lives, along with other victims, will receive compensation under a special relief package.
Relief Oversight and Transparency
Shehbaz Sharif directed federal ministers to remain present in affected regions to supervise aid distribution and oversee rehabilitation, stressing that assistance must be delivered quickly and transparently.
NDMA, Finance, and Health Tasks
The NDMA has been tasked with presenting a detailed damage assessment and a clear plan for the allocation of aid. Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry has been ordered to immediately release funds, and the Health Ministry will deploy medical teams along with supplies of essential medicines.
Scale of Damage
Officials briefed the meeting that more than 400 rescue operations have already been conducted. Around 46 relief camps are operational for displaced citizens, while initial damage to property is valued at over Rs125 million.
The prime minister vowed that federal ministers would remain engaged in the field until relief reaches every affected household and essential infrastructure is fully restored.
