RAWALPINDI (RNN TV) — Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General (DG) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has strongly denied claims made in a recent column by journalist Sohail Warraich.
He clarified that the Army Chief never gave any interview to journalists, nor did any discussion about PTI or apologies take place at the Brussels event referenced in the article.
Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Lt. Gen. Chaudhry explained that while many individuals took pictures during the Brussels gathering, no political matters were discussed. He dismissed the claims as a fabrication aimed at gaining personal publicity, calling such behavior inappropriate and against the law.
When asked about possible legal action against media outlets, the ISPR chief said institutions should act with wisdom and urged the media to avoid irresponsible reporting. He expressed disappointment over the conduct of senior journalists, stressing the need for professionalism in journalism.
The ISPR reiterated that the military is a responsible institution, fully committed to law and order while staying away from political controversies. Lt. Gen. Chaudhry emphasized that anyone who violates the law will face due consequences.
Firmly rejecting the claims in Warraich’s column, the ISPR said they were misleading attempts to gain attention and urged the media to uphold accuracy and responsibility in reporting.
