Qatar Islamic Summit

DOHA (Web Desk) — Leaders of more than 50 Arab and Islamic nations declared on Monday that Israel had “crossed all red lines,” warning that the response to its recent actions must be “clear, decisive and deterrent.”

The extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit, jointly convened by the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was hosted in Doha to address Israel’s strike on Qatar. Heads of state and government from across the Muslim world attended, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

In their opening remarks, leaders underscored that silence on Israeli “crimes” was no longer an option, calling for accountability under the UN Charter and international law.

Draft resolution

A draft resolution, finalised by foreign ministers ahead of the summit, cautioned that Israel’s strike had jeopardised ongoing efforts to normalise ties with Arab states and undermined existing agreements. Leaders stressed the need for unity across the Arab and Islamic world to confront what they described as a “grave escalation.”

Pakistan urges Israel’s suspension from UN

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denounced the strike on Qatar as “naked aggression,” describing it as part of Israel’s “reckless” policies. Expressing solidarity with Doha, he recalled Qatar’s role as a mediator for peace and urged the UN to suspend Israel’s membership.

“Injustices have reached an intolerable level,” the premier said, invoking the plight of Palestinian children and demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar proposed the creation of an “Arab-Islamic Task Force” to monitor Israeli actions and campaign for the suspension of its UN membership.

Qatar condemns violation of sovereignty

Welcoming delegates, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani condemned Israel’s actions as a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, accusing Tel Aviv of sabotaging the peace process by targeting Hamas negotiators in Doha.

He alleged that Israel was committing “genocide against Palestinians” and warned that its “Greater Israel” agenda threatened global peace.

Calls for unity and accountability

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha and Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit urged member states to adopt firm decisions against Israel. “This rogue state’s bullying must end,” Aboul Gheit said, warning that silence emboldened Israeli actions.

Turkish President Erdoğan said Israel must not be allowed to act with impunity, while Egyptian President el-Sisi described the crisis as “a deliberate attempt to destroy peace.” Jordan’s King Abdullah II said the response must be “clear, decisive, and deterrent.”

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani proposed establishing a NATO-style defence pact for Arab and Islamic countries, under which an attack on one would be considered an attack on all.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for urgent humanitarian aid, warning that Israel’s war had “crossed every limit” and insisting that a Palestinian state based on 1967 borders was the only path to peace.

US envoy visit

The US State Department confirmed that Secretary of State Rubio would travel to Doha following a stop in Israel, before joining President Donald Trump in London. His visit coincides with the summit’s conclusion.

Sideline meetings

Prime Minister Sharif also held meetings with leaders including the Qatari Emir, Turkish President Erdoğan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and President Abbas. The Pakistani delegation included Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
