ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Kyrgyzstan’s President, Sadyr Zhaparov, has arrived in Islamabad for a two-day state visit, marking the first such visit in 20 years.
The Kyrgyz leader was warmly received by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and senior government officials at Islamabad International Airport. A 21-gun salute was fired in his honor, and children dressed in traditional attire presented him with flowers.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation of cabinet ministers, top officials, and business leaders, President Zhaparov is set to engage in important talks with Pakistan’s top leadership.
This is the first presidential visit from Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan since January 2005. The Kyrgyz president’s itinerary includes meetings with Pakistan’s president and prime minister, as well as a special address at the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum.
Discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing trade, energy, defense, education, and people-to-people exchanges, with a particular emphasis on regional connectivity.
