RAWALPINDI (RNN TV) — Former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Faiz Hameed has been handed a 14-year sentence of rigorous imprisonment by a military court, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the process of the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) against Hameed began on August 12, 2024, under the Pakistan Army Act and continued for a period of 15 months.

The ISPR said the former lieutenant general faced four charges: engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act in a manner harmful to the safety and interests of the state, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals.

“After lengthy and laborious legal proceedings, the accused has been found guilty on all charges and sentenced to 14 years rigorous imprisonment,” the statement said.

It added that the sentence was “promulgated on December 11, 2025”.

During the trial, the FGCM adhered to all legal requirements, and Hameed was “afforded with all legal rights, including [the] rights of [a] defence team of his choice”.

The ISPR noted that the convict retains the right to appeal before the relevant forum.

The statement further mentioned that Hameed’s “involvement… in fomenting vested political agitation and instability in cohorts with political elements and in certain other matters is separately being dealt with”.

Hameed was taken into custody in August 2024, and the military publicly confirmed the initiation of FGCM proceedings against him on August 12 last year.
