LAHORE (RNN TV) — LONDON: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has voiced deep regret over the ongoing use of Afghan territory by terrorist groups to launch attacks inside Pakistan, describing it as a “painful reality.”
Speaking to reporters outside the Avenfield apartments following a meeting with PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of fostering peaceful ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar was also present during the meeting.
Highlighting Pakistan’s concerns, PM Shehbaz said, “We have consistently called on the Afghan interim government to ensure its territory is not used—under the commitments of the Doha agreement—against Pakistan or its interests. Sadly, groups like the TTP and others continue to operate from Afghan soil, targeting innocent civilians in Pakistan.”
Urging Kabul to take concrete steps against these elements, he reaffirmed that Afghanistan is a “brotherly nation” and stressed the need for both countries to “coexist peacefully and harmoniously as neighbors.”
The Prime Minister also spoke about his recent visit to Belarus, describing his engagements with the Belarusian leadership as productive and positive.
