LAHORE (RNN TV) — KARACHI: Lahore Qalandars’ experienced left-arm spinner Asif Afridi is aiming to achieve a unique milestone in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 — delivering the most dot balls and conceding the fewest boundaries throughout the tournament.
The 38-year-old spinner shared his goal to stand out with a disciplined bowling approach. “My target is to bowl the highest number of dot balls in the tournament and give away the least number of boundaries,” Afridi stated.
Despite battling discomfort from a lingering eye injury, Afridi said his focus remains firmly on his performance once he steps onto the field. “The pain is there, especially when I run, but once the match starts, I forget everything and concentrate on cricket,” he said. “My passion for the game overshadows the pain.”
Afridi acknowledged the increasing challenges bowlers face in modern T20 cricket, where big hitting dominates. “There’s constant pressure on bowlers these days,” he said. “That’s why I don’t plan for the whole match. I go delivery by delivery — that helps me stay sharp and limit scoring chances.”
Reflecting on Lahore Qalandars’ recent turnaround in form, Afridi expressed confidence in the team’s momentum heading into their next clash against Karachi Kings. “Our win has lifted the team spirit, and we’re ready to give Karachi a tough time in the upcoming match,” he said.
He also praised the team environment, calling it one of the best he’s experienced. “The Qalandars feel like a family — we support each other, and the atmosphere is very positive.”
Addressing questions about his age, Afridi shrugged off concerns. “Age is only an issue if you’re not giving your best. As long as I’m putting in 100% effort, age doesn’t matter,” he said confidently.
