FAISALABAD (RNN TV) — Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, condemned the recent attacks on international food chains across the country and emphasized that the government would take strict action against those responsible.
Speaking at a press conference in Faisalabad on Saturday, Talal assured that the government was committed to ensuring the safety of investors in Pakistan. “The state is fully aware of its responsibilities. It is unacceptable for those bringing investment into the country to face such attacks,” he said.
The minister revealed that nearly 20 attacks on private restaurants, mostly foreign fast food chains, had occurred in various cities. In response, twelve FIRs were filed in Punjab, leading to the arrest of 142 individuals, while two incidents in Islamabad resulted in the detention of 15 people.
Talal pointed out that around 25,000 Pakistanis are employed by these food chains, and any attack on these businesses directly impacts their livelihoods. “Such attacks are not only un-Islamic but also harmful to the economy,” he stated.
He also mentioned that many of those arrested expressed regret for their actions and sought forgiveness. “The arrested individuals are ashamed of what they did and have apologized,” Talal said.
The minister confirmed that no political party had endorsed or supported the violence, distancing themselves from the incidents. He also noted that no new attacks had been reported since the previous day, suggesting that the government’s firm stance was proving effective.
