LAHORE (RNN TV) — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised Pakistan’s textile sector for achieving a record $13.613 billion (around Rs3,793 billion) in exports during the first nine months of the current fiscal year, marking a 9.38% increase compared to the same period last year.

Data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reveals that this growth highlights the resilience of the textile industry, which remains a key pillar of Pakistan’s export economy.

The Prime Minister credited both the government’s economic policies and the private sector’s relentless efforts for driving this achievement.

In March 2025 alone, overall exports reached $2.64 billion (approximately Rs737 billion), showing both monthly and yearly growth. Textile exports for the month grew by 6.27%, reflecting positive momentum in trade.

Key export categories like knitwear, ready-made garments, bed wear, and cotton cloth continued to strengthen Pakistan’s competitive position in global textile markets.

PM Sharif stated, “This achievement underscores the success of our economic strategies and the dedication of our industrial stakeholders. The government is committed to creating a business-friendly environment, attracting investment, and sustaining export growth.”

He emphasized that the steady rise in exports, along with other positive economic indicators, is a result of strong government-private sector collaboration. “Our focus is on establishing a sustainable growth model that drives consistent economic progress and generates jobs,” he said.

From July 2024 to March 2025, total exports amounted to $24.7 billion (approximately Rs6,892 billion), showing a 7.82% year-on-year increase, signaling ongoing economic recovery and export diversification.
