LAHORE (RNN TV) — Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have joined hands to launch a united platform, Majlis-e-Ittehad-e-Ummat, aimed at voicing collective support for the people of Palestine and promoting unity within the Muslim world.

The announcement was made during a joint press conference in Lahore on Monday, where JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and JI Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman shared details of their collaboration. As part of this initiative, the two parties will stage a major pro-Palestine rally at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on April 27.

Speaking at the press conference, Maulana Fazlur Rehman stressed the importance of Muslim unity on the issue of Palestine. “The plight of Palestinians is a matter of grave concern for the entire Ummah. With Majlis-e-Ittehad-e-Ummat, we aim to raise a unified voice for justice,” he said.

He also expressed openness to future dialogue with political rivals, including the PTI, stating, “We seek to build bridges, even with opponents. Differences aside, dialogue is always more constructive than confrontation.”

Touching on domestic issues, the JUI-F leader criticized the federal government’s handling of inter-provincial water resources, calling a newly proposed canal project divisive. He compared it to the long-disputed Kalabagh Dam, warning against repeating past mistakes.

“These matters should be resolved with consensus. The government is once again creating rifts between provinces through its unilateral decisions,” he said.

On the topic of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, Maulana Fazl described it as “merely acceptable, not ideal.” In contrast, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman firmly rejected the amendment and reiterated his party’s independent stance.

“There was widespread election rigging,” Hafiz Naeem said, “but we are not joining calls for early elections. Our struggle is guided by principles, not protests.”

Despite differing political positions, both leaders agreed to collaborate on shared causes. “Even with ideological differences, Jamaat-e-Islami and JUI-F can stand together on matters of national and religious importance,” said Hafiz Naeem.

Maulana Fazl added that the upcoming rally at Minar-e-Pakistan would resonate strongly with the people of Punjab, underscoring that support for Palestine transcends political affiliations and regional boundaries.

The press conference concluded with both leaders paying tribute to the late Professor Khurshid. Maulana Fazl mentioned that part of his visit to Lahore was to offer condolences to his family.
