LONDON (RNN TV) — Qasim and Suleman Khan, sons of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, have publicly voiced their concern over their father’s prolonged imprisonment, marking their first public comments since his arrest.
In a statement released this week, the brothers expressed shock at the duration and conditions of Imran Khan’s detention. “We never imagined our father would be held this long. Things are going from bad to worse,” said Qasim Khan. “We feel we’re running out of options, and speaking out publicly is now our only path forward.”
The brothers described what they claim are inhumane conditions in which the former prime minister is being held, alleging that he is being denied basic human rights. They also noted the gravity of some of the charges against him, saying they carry the possibility of the death penalty.
As part of their efforts to build international pressure for Khan’s release, the brothers announced plans to appeal directly to the United States. “Who better than President Trump to pay attention to this issue?” Qasim said. “We want to reach out and ask for his help.”
According to the brothers, all domestic legal channels have been exhausted. “We’ve pursued every legal route we could. Now, we’re fighting not just to free our father, but to restore democracy in Pakistan,” Qasim stated. He also emphasized that their father would not accept any backdoor deal in exchange for his release.
The appeal comes amid growing international scrutiny of Pakistan’s political and judicial landscape, with concerns raised by human rights organizations over the treatment of political opponents.
