RAWALPINDI (RNN TV) — Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has firmly stated that water is a non-negotiable national interest for Pakistan, declaring it a “red line” and affirming that the right of 240 million Pakistanis to water will not be compromised under any circumstances.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made these remarks while addressing a gathering of vice-chancellors, principals, and senior faculty members from various universities.

Field Marshal Munir praised the vital role of educators, calling them Pakistan’s greatest asset. “Whatever I am today is because of my parents and my teachers,” he said, emphasizing that teachers bear the responsibility of shaping the character and understanding of future generations. He urged them to instill in students the true narrative of Pakistan, noting, “In the struggle for truth, Allah has always supported Pakistan.”

Stressing the importance of national unity, he said, “When a nation stands united like an iron wall, no power in the world can defeat it.”

On the issue of Kashmir, the army chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering stance, stating, “There can be no compromise on Kashmir. We will never forget it, and India must understand that Pakistan will never abandon this cause.” He added that India has long attempted to suppress the Kashmir issue without success and asserted that such efforts are now futile.

Referring to the water issue, Munir stated clearly, “Water is Pakistan’s red line, and we will not allow any violation of this basic right.”

Rejecting Indian dominance in the region, he said Pakistan would never accept any form of hegemony. He also criticized India’s internal policies, attributing rising terrorism in the country to systemic discrimination and oppression of minorities, particularly Muslims. “Meanwhile, Kashmir remains an internationally recognized dispute,” he added.

He further claimed that terrorist activities in Balochistan are fueled by Indian support, stressing they do not reflect the will of the Baloch people.

Field Marshal Munir concluded by calling for a stronger Pakistan governed by constitutional principles and rule of law. He urged all institutions to operate free from political interference and personal agendas, solely for the welfare of the nation. “Anyone attempting to undermine the state’s narrative must be resisted,” he said.
