Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Dr. Nisar Jutt and former MNA Alamgir Khan strongly criticized the Punjab government on Wednesday after being denied a court-approved visit to party founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
Speaking to reporters outside the prison, Dr. Nisar Jutt expressed frustration over being denied access despite having permission from the court and appearing on an official visitors list. “Our leader is being kept in harsh conditions. The authorities are blocking our meeting because they fear we’ll carry his message to the public,” he said.
Standing in the intense summer heat, Dr. Jutt said the suffering of PTI supporters was nothing compared to what Imran Khan was facing behind bars. He accused the Punjab administration of deliberately preventing visits as part of a broader political agenda.
“We are being stopped at every checkpoint. Our ID cards are scrutinized without reason. This is all part of a conspiracy led by the Punjab government,” he claimed.
Dr. Jutt further alleged that the refusal to allow meetings was aimed at silencing a united stance against India. “They fear our unity. Marium Nawaz is orchestrating this crackdown. Under her leadership, Punjab’s farmers, labourers, traders, and industries are being crushed,” he said, calling for an end to what he described as the misuse of authority.
Former MNA Alamgir Khan echoed his concerns, calling the denial of access a sign of rising authoritarianism. “We were not allowed to see our party leader. This is yet another act of political repression following the 26th Constitutional Amendment,” he said.
Drawing a controversial comparison, Khan stated, “Even convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav was granted better treatment than our former Prime Minister.”
He reaffirmed PTI’s commitment to peaceful resistance. “We will not abandon our peaceful struggle. Our movement will continue, no matter the obstacles,” he said.
