WASHINGTON (RNN TV)Pakistan’s trade relationship with the United States has seen a notable upswing following the recent visit of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to Washington, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The report emphasized the warm reception Munir received during his visit to the White House last month, describing it as an exceptional diplomatic gesture. In a symbolic move following the visit, Pakistan recommended former US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, further indicating a willingness to deepen ties.

Bloomberg noted that the visit led to renewed momentum in trade discussions between the two countries, with improvements in bilateral engagement on multiple fronts.

During the high-profile meeting at the White House on June 19, President Trump praised Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and stability, as well as the country’s continued cooperation in counter-terrorism. Both leaders reaffirmed a shared commitment to expanding joint efforts in this area.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the discussions also touched on future opportunities for cooperation in a wide range of sectors, including trade, economic growth, minerals, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, energy, and emerging technologies. President Trump reportedly expressed a strong interest in building a long-term, strategic trade partnership with Pakistan rooted in mutual interests.

The US leader also lauded Field Marshal Munir’s leadership and strategic vision, especially during a period of evolving regional dynamics.

Separately, Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb reaffirmed the country’s eagerness to deepen economic collaboration with the US, particularly in non-traditional sectors like information technology, agriculture, and minerals.
