ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — PTI leader Sardar Latif Khosa on Thursday delivered a letter from party founder Imran Khan to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi, raising concerns over court delays, harsh prison conditions, and judicial practices.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Khosa said the CJP listened attentively as he described the lack of hearings in PTI-related cases and the “bulldozing” of trials. He highlighted that Imran Khan is confined in a small cell, while both he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, face severe restrictions in jail, including limited family access. The chief justice, Khosa added, assured him that a uniform policy on prison conditions would be considered.

Earlier, Aleema Khan was barred from entering the Supreme Court with Imran Khan’s letter, as police cited lack of permission. The letter, however, eventually reached the CJP through Khosa.

In his detailed note, the PTI founder painted a grim picture of over 772 days in custody and more than 300 cases filed against him. He voiced distress over being cut off from his sons and criticized Bushra Bibi’s solitary confinement, claiming her health is deteriorating without proper medical access.

Khan also questioned the trials of PTI workers arrested after May 9 protests, denouncing the use of military courts against civilians. He cited the sentencing of relatives, including Barrister Hassan Niazi, as proof of political victimisation.

The letter further objected to the 26th Constitutional Amendment, which changed the appointment process of the CJP. Khan termed it a tool to weaken judicial independence, while the government defends it as necessary for restoring balance among state institutions.

Drawing a parallel with the case of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Khan warned against justice delayed and urged immediate remedies. His demands included allowing phone calls to his sons, medical access for Bushra Bibi, and the restoration of judicial independence.
