ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Federal Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar, has clarified that no company currently operating in Pakistan has any links to Israel.
Tarar emphasized that targeting businesses based on unverified narratives would not be tolerated. “The law is actively addressing the incidents involving attacks on food outlets,” he said, firmly rejecting claims that any local operations are tied to Israel.
“Pakistan has no trade relations with Israel and cannot import Israeli products,” the minister reaffirmed.
His comments come in the wake of several attacks on international fast-food chains during pro-Palestine rallies held across the country. These protests, organized in solidarity with Gaza, have taken a violent turn in some cities.
Earlier this week, a video of an attack on a KFC outlet went viral, drawing widespread attention. The footage shows a group of men storming into the restaurant, some armed with sticks and bats, causing panic among families dining inside. The attackers were seen chanting anti-Israel slogans, with one accusing customers of “sponsoring genocide in Gaza” by eating at the American brand.
The alarming scene sent families, including children, fleeing in fear, and ignited a broader debate around the role of multinational brands amid the Gaza conflict.
Similar incidents have been reported in major cities like Lahore and Karachi, where rallies continue to gain momentum. Protesters have accused global brands, including KFC and Pepsi, of alleged ties to Israel, demanding they take a clear stance on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Calls for boycotts have extended beyond restaurants. With companies like KFC and Pepsi also sponsoring the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, criticism has spilled over into the world of sports, with some activists urging a boycott of the national cricket league.
As public sentiment continues to shift, questions remain over how these brands will respond to the growing demand for accountability and transparency regarding their affiliations. The KFC attack serves as a stark example of how global politics is fueling unrest on the streets of Pakistan.
