ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has accused India of attempting to provoke the Sikh community in Indian Punjab against Pakistan, following a botched missile launch that saw three Indian missiles fall within Amritsar.
During a press briefing, Dar revealed that India fired four missiles late last night. While one missile was intercepted and destroyed by Pakistani air defences—its debris landing in the Dinga area of Pakistan—three others landed within Amritsar, the capital of Indian Punjab.
Dar said instead of acknowledging its error, the Indian government attempted to blame Pakistan for the incident. He alleged that this was a deliberate move by New Delhi to manipulate public sentiment in Indian Punjab and stir anti-Pakistan feelings among the Sikh population.
“This is a dangerous attempt to sow discord and deflect attention from rising internal unrest and dissatisfaction within India, particularly in Punjab,” Dar said. “The people of Pakistani and Indian Punjab share cultural and emotional ties, and the Indian government’s reckless actions now endanger Sikh lives.”
He warned that New Delhi is exploiting the Sikh community as a political pawn, using national security rhetoric to suppress dissent and consolidate power.
The foreign minister urged the international community to take notice of India’s “irresponsible behaviour,” calling it a threat not only to regional peace but also to the safety and dignity of its own citizens.
