ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Former Foreign Minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari warned that the world’s silence on Israeli aggression against Iran could lead to catastrophic consequences. Citing Pastor Martin Niemöller’s poem “First They Came,” Bilawal said, “If we don’t speak out for Iranians, there will be no one left when they come for us.”
Speaking in the National Assembly, he highlighted the pattern of global indifference toward Palestinians, Lebanese, and Yemenis before the conflict escalated to Iran. Bilawal urged an end to Israel’s regional aggression, warning it risks dragging the world into a broader conflict akin to World War III.
His remarks come amid escalating tensions following Israeli attacks on Iran and US strikes on Tehran’s nuclear facilities.
Pakistan’s Diplomatic and Military Stance
Bilawal emphasized Pakistan’s military and diplomatic successes against India after last month’s cross-border clashes, including Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, which downed six Indian Air Force jets. The conflict ended with a US-brokered ceasefire on May 10.
He accused India of mimicking Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s aggressive policies and stated Pakistan had triumphed in the battlefield, diplomacy, and narrative war. Bilawal reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to Kashmir’s cause, noting increased international support and opposition to India’s actions in the region.
Warning Over Water Dispute and Future Conflicts
Bilawal condemned India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it illegal and a violation of the UN Charter. He warned that if India proceeds with blocking water supplies, Pakistan would be forced to respond militarily to protect its water rights.
He also claimed India failed in its attempts to label Pakistan a terrorist state and accused internal political elements of undermining Pakistan’s IMF program.
Domestic Politics and Budget Support
Despite being in opposition, Bilawal expressed support for the federal government’s proposed Rs17.57 trillion budget for FY 2025-26, while advocating for higher salary and pension increases and greater federal funding for South Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He asserted that although PPP is not in the cabinet, it remains the true representative of the nation.
